Giving Back to the Next Generation of Aspiring Tailors and Designers: HIGH SCHOOL OF FASHION INDUSTRIES INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
LES DOWNTOWN is proud to sponsor a paid tailoring internship program as a philanthropic tool for students of The High School of Fashion Industries, located in the heart of New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood.
Lisa Rosa, CEO and Creative Director of LES DOWNTOWN is also Co-Founder of the non-profit organization, Power of One For All, in collaboration with Rosa Chavez, Fashion Design faculty director at The High School of Fashion Industries. Founded in 2018, the non-profit serves this NYC public high school’s inner-city students with academic and financial support through three different grant programs in addition to providing the LES DOWNTOWN paid internship program. As part of the CITYHALL bespoke clothier label, LES DOWNTOWN invites aspiring students from the school pursuing a career in tailoring and fashion design to participate in creating your one-of-a-kind tailored suit.
Lisa Rosa and Rosa Chavez together evaluate, interview and select students who demonstrate the professional level sewing skills and communications capabilities required to create an expertly handcrafted garment, and offer each of those students the opportunity to gain real world experience in construction and design. The interns participate in two aspects of the creative process; they take the initial measurements for your bespoke fitting, and once your garment is made, they do the final modifications and alterations to your suit. Both are done on site at the High School of Fashion Industries, under the supervision of Rosa Chavez. When you order a custom suit at LES Downtown, you support rising talent in the field of design and contribute to their financial needs. For more information on Power of One for all.
